Our Love Story
Marquita and Lathon met at Simpson Park affectionally known as "Simp" in Lakeland, Florida; she, the light-skinned cutie and he, the hot basketball player on the court. Their union was not the typical love story; it all started when Marquita saw a basketball fly over her head. Immediately, she looked up and noticed a guy with braids smiling at her - oh she was not happy. Lathon, was so intrigued by Marquita's anger that he later asked her cousin for her phone number (well back then it was beeper number). Days later, Marquita noticed her beeper was ringing and she returned the phone call. A guy name Lathon (Dooley) answered, and the rest is history.
During their years of sharing each other's love, the couple created a family of three children, two girls and one boy, purchased a new home and are now grandparents.
In January of 2023, Lathon planned a surprise proposal; secretly inviting Marquita's family and closets friends. In front of everyone, Marquita shouted "YES!" They're so excited to start the next chapter of their lives together and can't wait to celebrate with you in October!
